Why dont everyone love the Beatles?

Posted by admin on June 27th, 2010 and filed under the beatles | 24 Comments »

the Beatles are music. if you dont like the beatles, you dont know what real music is. just sayin.

BQ: the Beatles or Nirvana? (you have to pick the Beatles)

some people may not like them out of ignorance, you know they think:"i can’t get into this,it’s my parents music"you know stuff like that.

i thought the same way at 14,till i actually started listening to the beatles and reading up on them.

after all that i realized at although the beatles were a 60’s band, what they did went far beyond the 60’s.

i offer this quote from the compleat beatles:"it must be stoically accepted that the beatles were in the end a phenomenon of the 60’s,the 70’s and beyond were only to feel their influence!"

also the beatles may not be some people’s cup of tea where music is concerned and that’s ok with me!

bq:although both bands made an impact that’s still being felt now,the beatles are my personal preference

now playing:stone in love-journey

I like the Beatles and all, but I disagree. "real music" is a subjective term. it’s going to mean something different to each individual.

BQ: The Beatles, not because you are telling me what to choose, but because I don’t like Nirvana.

    Trolling much?

I see the Beatles as a band people love to love because you can say things like "you don’t know real music if you don’t love them"; musical snobs.
I see them as a bunch of pretentious guys that got onto a great thing when they hit the mainstream after lots and lots of marketing.
John Lennon, apparently the greatest one, was a massive hypocrite (singing songs about a Utopia, the working man’s hero, no possessions yet he was stinking rich). All he sang about seemingly was idealistic worlds which lacked any reality. World peace? Riiiight.
Their music lacks any energy or emotion and seems utterly half-hearted like the band was half asleep.
The fans are 90% elitist douche-bag hipsters (see your mirror) who spend hours going on about how "powerful" they were while disregarding any genuine criticism of the band.

    BA: Nirvana.

Why would you have the nerve to say if I don’t like the Beatles I don’t know what real music is. I may or may not know more about music in my baby finger and you and all your friends know. But trying to start a debate about who loves, like or even cares about the Beatles has got nothing to do with , if ones knows or don’t know music. If I said to you I don’t like the Beatles if may have nothing to do with their music in general, it could be I just don’t like them. There are a lot of bands I don’t like but I don’t hate them or tell people they don’t know anything about music because they like or dislike something I like. Unlike you I do have all the Beatles music on wax, and I’m still not what you would call a big Beatles fan, and I probably listen to more of their music than you do and probably know more about them than you do.

BQ: Nirvana and way they play a heavier style of music that I enjoy and again Nirvana don’t come close to my favorite band. And that band I don’t have to mention cause most people here on R&P know who my band is. So as far as knowing music I would say I do, I’m I the best at knowing and understanding music I would say not. I have seen some very informative people here on R&P of all ages.

    take care

You remind me of a classical snob.

Except unlike a classical snob you didn’t even choose music with significant merit.

The only "merit" the beatles had was popularity…

I can’t stand the Beatles. Yet I think it can hardly be said I dont know what real music is. I have an MA in Music, play 6 instruments, have performed professionally, have sold two songs to television production companies, managed bands, written album reviews that were published in real magazines, and in particular have been playing guitar since 1973.

I have heard every song the Beatles ever recorded. Imho, they were nothing but a studio band that couldnt function without George Martin. They couldnt play live worth a damn, and their innovation is overblown myth. But to be honest, my aversion to the Beatles is due to their ignorant tunnel-vision fan base like you.

    BQ: They both blow
