Who was more popular, Michael Jackson or the Beatles?

I’m talking about in their peaks, MJ in the 80′s and the beatles in the 60′s. I love both of them but I personally prefer the beatles.

I like the beatles better:)

The Beatles, because they sold over 1,000,000,000 records, which makes them the best!

That’s a good question! I’m going to say The Beatles but Michael definitely comes at close second. This question will probably get alot of very opinionated responses. Good job!

Micheal jackson owned the rights to the beatles music for a while so when they got repopular a few yrs ago it was because m.j released the music again. They are both about the same just different time periods and generations. Both were controversial in there own way mj for grabbing crotch the beatles for there long hair. Micheal jackson demanded more news so at times he was more popular because people who didnt even like his music were paying attention to the news on his trials. The beatles have sold more then 800 million where mj (as himself not jackson 5) has sold roughly 200-300 million

The answer is based on opinion.

Michael Jackson holds the title for best-selling worldwide album ‘Thriller’, but the Beatles have one of the best selling singles ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’. They’re both extremely talented and have many accomplishments and are probably equally as popular (with Elvis coming in at a close third, then Lady Gaga).

But I agree, MJ was most popular in the 80s-early 90s as a solo artist. As a child, he was popular in the late 60s-70s. The Beatles were popular in the 1960s-70s, with individual members gaining more popularity in the 70s and early 80s.

And, if you care, I prefer Michael Jackson. :)

The Beatles are the biggest selling artists of all time selling over 1 billion albums, so them. But Michael Jackson has the biggest selling album of all time – approx. 110 million

The Beatles were more popular. They were so popular that even Michael Jackson had to buy the rights to their songs so he could survive.

The Beatles are more influential. Although Michael Jackson had the biggest selling album of all time, it was not of great quality. The Beatles have at least 5 albums that consistently rank in the top 20 albums of all time.
