Bands like the Beatles?

my favorite band is the Beatles, but i really want to listen to some new stuff. what bands are like the Beatles. stuff from the 60s and 70s are preferable
Jeanie A:
I know, I was thinking for a good solid 10 minutes, but I could think of any bands that were actually similar to the beatles. i guess they are just one of a kind :)

There really is no one like The Beatles. They did hand pick a band named Badfinger and wrote songs for them but still they are like a cheap imitation. Some of the more popular bands from that era would be The Kinks, The Zombies, The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Jerry and the Pacemakers, The Stones, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Yardbirds (Clapton, Page, & Jeff Beck), Simon & Garfunkel, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, even Led Zeppelin (1968).

THe zombies, the turtles, the association, CCR, The knickerbockers.

I suggest you buy the Nuggets Artyfacts volumes. I am a big fan of 60′s music, and after I wanted to listen to more than just the beatles this collection really helped me.

    ADD:

The beatles are great sure, but there are so many other bands that deserve equal listen.

Groups who had a style like the Beatles were the 60′s bands (many also from Liverpool) include
THE MERSEYBEATS – GERRY & The PACEMAKERS – The SEARCHERS – BILLY J. KRAMER & The DAKOTAS – The SWINGING BLUE JEANS – The REMO 4 – and BADFINGER ( popular from 1969 to 1972, on the Beatles APPLE label )

In the 1970′s, The RASPBERRIES (fron Ohio) styled their sound after the Beatles, as did The RUTLES, a parody band that poked fun at The Beatles. A Canadian band, KLATTU, played in a style from The Magical Mystery Tour era of The Beatles.

Later, The KNACK ( "Get The Knack" was their 1st album )
