what is the song do better by say anything about?

September 28th, 2010

the only part of the song im having trouble with is

drink alone and watch tv, you’re expecting harmonies
to tap your tune with silver spoons, anthem of impending doom
guiding satan’s steady hand, forcing beatles to disband
it’s ego freaks and drama queens, the young at heart know what i mean

its my favorite verse in the whole song but i still cant figure it out. any ideas as to what it might mean?

according to max himself:

"This is a song I wrote later on in the writing process. It’s about the recognition that we live in a flawed society. I wrote the lyrics first. They were a criticism about myself and, like, this really negative song. What I realized when I finally finished the lyrics is that I had overcome a lot of the things that I was making fun of about myself, and that to write a song about those things would be a novelty or sort of typical Say Anything act–to make a negative, self-deprecating song. So my goal was to write a positive, uplifting song, but still have it be very "Say Anything." It’s about the ability every human being has to fulfill his or her potential. It doesn’t mean we can all be godlike, but we can do better than how we tend to do. Once you realize that, you have a lot more options open to you as a human being."

Another Buy or Sell: Bob Marley & The Wailers > The Beatles, Stones, & Who combined?

September 23rd, 2010

BUY BUY BUY…Best Buy or Sell EVER!

Seriously though…A lot of people think hes overrated but majority of people don’t even pay attention to him aside from his greatest hits stuff. All they know is Jammin and Three Little Birds. That makes him underrated in my opinion.

Nirvana vs. The Beatles?

September 17th, 2010

take your pick. and explain why!

On a personal level, Nirvana.

But overall it has to be the Beatles, they changed the face of music and are arguably THE most influential band ever, even if Nirvana weren’t directly influenced by them the bands who influenced Nirvana were. For example Cobain was a big Dinosaur JR fan, and there frontman has cited Beatles as massive influences.

Nirvana are a brilliant band, but the Beatles are just that much better. You have good bands, then the brilliant bands (Nirvanas’ level and then a small few who are beyond them, the Beatles being among them.

Despite all of our differences there is one thing we can agree on?

September 15th, 2010

And that is we know that The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are the greatest artists of the modern era

agree?

SOME of the greatest*

who thinks the Beatles SUCK?

September 12th, 2010

I think probably plenty of people do. But I believe they do so either as trolls or out of ignorance.

If you have a clear sense of musical history, and understand music theory, it would be impossible to overstate the Beatles’ contributions to music and the broader culture. You don’t even have to like them to acknowledge the many, many things they did for the very first time.

Everything from:

using Major 7th chords
compound time signatures
influence of eastern music
making long hair "ok"
changing attitudes towards drugs and sex
redefining the music industry and creating a new entity: the singer/songwriter who made money
invented the word "grotty"

…and the list goes on.

Simply put, saying the Beatles suck is like saying Beethoven sucks. Both have contributed too much for such an easy dismissal.

It’s an opinion to which anyone is entitled, but it doesn’t provide any insight and so is stated either out of malice or out of ignorance.

Queen or The Beatles?

September 9th, 2010

Queen and Queen and Queen

So Beatles and Ringo Starr fans, do you know what happened this week?

September 6th, 2010

This week in the early 1960′s, Ringo Starr played his first set with The Beatles! :D
Also, this is the week that The Beatles played at Shae Stadium! :D
Ringo’s son, Jason, turns 43! :D

BQ- What do you think would have happened if Ringo never joined The Beatles?

LISTEN TO THEM ON SHAE STADIUM :D DDDD

http://www.beatlesradioshow.com/listen.htm

Awww Yay!!!! For everything! The beatles at Shea Stadium would have been incredible to see. andI bet Ringo’s son is a beastly musician just like his dad :)

THE BEATLES WITHOUT RINGO?!?!? That would be crazy. They would definitely not be the same band they are today. Without Ringo we wouldn’t have all those catchy song titles like A Hard Day’s Night! and we wouldn’t have octupus’s garden or his awesome vocals on countless songs like With a Little Help From my friends, boys, what goes on and the list continues! Plus the drums would probably sound so different. Ringo had his own distinct sound and beats. Without Ringo it just wouldn’t really be the beatles!!

Queen, Journey, Beatles, and Aerosmith room decor?

September 3rd, 2010

I’m redoing my room and I want to have to stuff in there from bands I like. I already have 2 Beatles posters, and I’ve seen a cool clock with the Revolver album cover on it, or the yellow submarine.

Where can I find some things for my room from Queen, Journey, or Aerosmith?

If anyone can post links to cool things or a good website, that would be great!! (And I’m sure that person would get best answer ;)

First – My compliments on your choices of classic rock bands although I’d have included James Gang, Led Zepplin, and Pink Floyd, (Oh and King Crimson, also Supertramp). OK, of all the fantastic bands of the late 60s you can’t have them all and you’ve made a good start.

Try these two websites for posters. Beatles stuff is basically all over the place, (but not cheap), and I recently bought 6 framed original album covers starting with Rubber Soul for my wall. Really sharp! Good Luck.
