Is There A Recording Of The Beatles "Wait"…?

July 2nd, 2011

recorded during the "Help!" sessions?

On June 17, 1965 in EMI Studio 2, they recorded a version which exists on bootlegs in very unfinished form. There are probably a few other takes circulating too. As far as I know, they didn’t get very far on it during the "Help!" sessions, and no completed version exists.

The beach boys or the beatles?

June 24th, 2011

Creators of lush songs dscribed as "teenage symphonies to God" and one of he most innovative bands ever, the Beach Boys invented California rock. Brian Wilson’s songs celebrated a West Coast teen fantasy, full of surfing, driving and pretty girls that barely hid the songwriter’s inner conflicts. Wilson orchestrated and produced glossy, manicured tracks with an ultra-smooth blend of guitars and vocal harmonies, creating a signature pop sound as recognizable as any in rock history.

Pet Sounds, which was released in March 1966, and included "Caroline", "Wouldn’t It Be Nice", " God Only Knows", hit number ten but sold comparatively poorly. In fact, it was not certified gold until the 30th anniversary of its release in 1996. Nonetheless it stands as one of te most important works in the Beach Boys oeuvre, for it ushered in the era of studio experimentation, predating the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and rivaling even Spector in terms of its sophisticated production. With the passage of time, the importance of Pet Sounds has only grown. Paul McCartney and the Beatles producer George Martin have acknowledged that it was the inspiration for Sgt. Pepper’s.

I go with the Beach Boys on this one.

take care

What song by the Beatles would be best for a good bye video to my friend?

June 22nd, 2011

She really likes the Beatles and I am making her a video of all our memories, and I would like to put a song by the Beatles on it. I would like it to be more relaxed and a bit more on the sad side if possible.
Thanks!

In My Life! It would be so perfect. Or you could just ask her which is her favorite (without telling her why you’re asking) and then add it!

better band…The Who or The beatles?

June 17th, 2011

ok…………. two of the most important groups in music history
The Who and The Beatles
The beatles had Revolver but the who had "Whos next"
in your opinion who is better and give reasons

I would say the Beatles for the following reasons:
1.) They influenced a lot more people.
2.) Their sound is more diverse (their early vs. late stuff).
3.) Each of the Beatles had very successful and talented solo careers (who doesn’t have a favorite Beatle, really? Mine is John).

That isn’t to day the who aren’t a great band, they really are! I just feel for those reasons the Beatles are superior.

Whats this 70s song; sounds like the carpenters….(lyrics: iiiii loooove youuu)?

June 13th, 2011

1) lyrics: IIIIII loooove youuuuuuu….(each word is sung as a half note) (this is the chorus of the song, however I wouldn’t be able to find the song using those lyrics considering the simple phrase, which is why im hoping someone will recognize the tune)

2) to hear what it sounds like, go to this site and play F, K, L as half notes…

http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks2/music/piano/

3)sounds similar to the carpenters

4) it MIGHT be from the 80s

its NOT
the turtles – your love
the beatles – michelle

Danny Dix – YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! thanks!

Sounds like a Beatles song that contains the words I love you.

I am nostalgic of the 60s, though I was born in early 1990s. What do you think?

June 11th, 2011

I have a great interest of history. My favorite time period is the 1960s. I listen to mainly 60s music, I have a record player, I watch 60s films, groovy is part of my vocabulary, and so on and so forth. I am really into this decade, I don’t really listen to current music, and I don’t know the latest fads and trends. I don’t watch TV. I just feel that I’m so different from my generation. I feel happy when listening to the Beatles or reading about some protest in 1968. I just feel I can be myself when I’m around these things and that I can escape from society. People my age think I am a big nerd, but I honestly cannot connect with people who are into Rap and just trying to be all like they’re the shit. I think society now is plain stupid and I hate how people act to live up to societies’ standards. I don’t know, I just hope I’m not the only one out there. Sometimes I wish I could have lived through the 60s, but times back then weren’t peachy, there was and still is a lot of racism, sexism, not really a lot acceptance of one being gay. So I understand back then wasn’t perfect but……… it seems like it was pretty GROOVY back then. What do you think?

I’m into the oldies as well, the music of our generation is so different that a comparison of the two can’t really be made.

There is nothing wrong with that, your taste is nostalgic and reminiscent of a simpler time, as far as music is concerned. It was about making socially conscious, feel good music back then, nowadays, not so much.
