Beatles Memorabilia 8

Posted by admin on June 19th, 2010 and filed under beatles memorabilia | 4 Comments »

Here’s some of my latest Beatles memorabilia updated June 2010. Nice mix of CDs and DVDs. I finally got all of the ABC Saturday Morning Cartoons!
My favorite addition is VO!CE, the Heather Mills/Paul McCartney collaboration they made before they started dating! My copy came from Cyprus!
I finally got a replacement copy of The Fireman: Electric Arguments. My original was mailed to Sir Paul!
The Tripping The Live Fantastic -highlights record is a limited edition release, available only in the UK.
The McGear album is Paul’s younger brother, Mike McCartney’s album. His authentic signature graces the lower right corner of the album cover. Paul and Linda provided backup vocals, and Paul produced the album.

If you have any questions about any of the items or their contents, drop me a line!

The audio comes from an outtake of “Ebony and Ivory,” the classic 1982 hit from Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder released on Paul’s Tug Of War album.

My wife doesn’t consider my feelings!?

Posted by admin on June 6th, 2010 and filed under beatles memorabilia | 5 Comments »

Some of you may have read my last question concerning my wanting to grow a mullet. (your answers were not very helpful, however) as you could probably tell, i’m a rock ‘n’ roll kinda guy and recently a pipe burst in the basement where i keep my Beatles memorabilia. Alot of it was damaged buy the water and it’s going to cost about $3,600 to restore what can be salvaged. My wife doesnt think it very important and doesnt want me to get my collection restored, but i feel its my only release ! I love going down there and just letting my body sway to the Strawberry Feilds Lp and gazing at my Ringo poster. How can i make her see that I need these things to be happy?
She wants the money for a holiday but i burn in the sun so i can’t partake in any activities anyway!

start doing something far worse like robbing banks to make her appreciate your hobby a little more

anyone know anything about beatles memorabilia?

Posted by admin on May 20th, 2010 and filed under beatles memorabilia | 3 Comments »

I found a sealed original pressing copy of the white album in my basement. I i already have an open copy so it’s not like I need it. Anyone know what it could sell for on ebay.

The value of your album will depend on a number of things….

- What is the number on the front cover? A low number (below 10,000) will command a higher price and anything very low (below 1,000) will be higher still.
- The price also depends on the condition – you say it is still sealed but is the cover totally mint, or are there defects like worn corners, tears in the shrinkwrap, etc?
- Are there any stickers on the shrinkwrap? These could add to the value depending on what stickers are present
- The history of the album; have you owned it since it was released or has it been bought and sold a number of times? Has it belonged to anyone connected to the Beatles (record company exec or whatever)?

A still-sealed White Album which had belonged to Alan Livingstone of Capitol Records (who signed The Beatles) sold for $6,000 on the Fab4Collectibles website. Another sealed copy with a rare sticker on the shrinkwrap sold for $7,500. These are probably the very high end of the market. Your album could be worth anything up to that depending on the factors above.

2009 Grammy Auction (Lot 101): GNR Cover Art

The 51st Grammy Auction: Lot 101 Guns N’ Roses Album Pencil Art

Pencil on paper by Billy White, Jr. (1987). Used as the album cover image for Guns N’ Roses’ “Appetite for Destruction.” The design was drawn as the artwork for Axl Rose’s tattoo and redrawn by Andy Engell for the album.

The original artwork for the album was rejected for being too offensive. David Geffen is said to have liked the tattoo and chose White’s artwork as the new cover image. Rose had the tattoo inked by Robert Benedetti at Sunset Strip Tattoo while still recording the album. “Appetite” was the band’s first release and catapulted the band to stardom. The album has gone platinum 18 times.

Size: 18 ¼ x 14 ½ inches. Framed.

Pre-auction estimate: $2,000-$4,000

Join Auction Network on Feb. 6, 2009, for the 51st Grammy Awards live charity auction honoring Neil Diamond as the 2009 MusiCares Person of the Year. A long-time Beatles & music memorabilia collector/historian, Mark’s portrayal of John Lennon has been called “spot on” by dedicated fans. His authentic singing style and Liverpudlian accent receive the “thumb’s up” from the likes of George Harrison’s sister Louise, English guitar afficianado Sir John Pearse & Shea Stadium concert promoter Sid Bernstein.

Mark performs in full costume and plays authentic-style guitars that were used by John Lennon including the famous Gibson J160E, Epiphone Casino, Gibson J-200, Martin Acoustic, 12 string & Dobro guitars.

Thousands of enthusiastic fans have marvelled at Mark’s tribute to John Lennon at Abbey Road on the River, the premier 5 day Beatles Music & Arts Festival held in Louisville during Memorial Day weekend. Can I turn you on to the Beatles "A Day In the Life"?

Posted by admin on May 4th, 2010 and filed under beatles memorabilia | 2 Comments »

I read the news today about a luck man who made the grade. Though the news was rather sad, I just had to laugh.
John Lennon had a song about a news item about the death of Tara Brown and Paul had an unfinished song that he collaborated with John to write "A Day In the Life."
A Day in the Life was banned by the BBC due to references of drug use. The Beatles denied the drug references despite the fact that Paul had just admitted to have taken LSD, a drug that all four Beatles and their manager Brian Epstein had taken.

If you have your dog listen closely the dog can hear a dog whistle dubbed in by John Lennon as a joke. Rare Beatles memorabilia collectors can find the Sgt Pepper album that contains the inner groove track following A Day in the Life that was later included on the compact disc release.
John Lennon had stated that he took over a thousand acid trips in his lifetime, many of which were taken drug the writing and production the Sgt Pepper album. The Beatles had been smoking marijuana since Bob Dylan introduced pot to the band in 1964. Do you believe John and Paul when they say that this song has absolutely nothing to do with drug use?
Here is the Rock Band version
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mK_D2OVEZCs
In this song it’s a drug reference. In She’s a Woman it’s a sexual reference.

it’s actually very interesting because if anything john and paul kind of knew that they were putting a potential drug reference into the song!

if you watch beatles anthology number 6,paul was talking about the song and he says that they actually knew that it could be taken as a drug reference!

from paul in anthology 6:"one of the things i remember about this song(a day in the life) was that it was a gorgeous song and learned the chords off of him,we developed it and then we got to the one bit which we didn’t have yet ‘i love to turn you on’ and we looked at each other and said:’we do realize what we’re doing don’t we,we’re actually using words like turn you on’,which was already part of the culture anyway,so then we said:’do it,do it,get it down!’"

its kind of funny because they’d used something similar in she’s a woman!

the line turns me on when i get lonely was said by paul to have been written in order to"give bob dylan a real drug reference to spot",of course that song wasn’t banned by the BBC at all

but i think by 1967,with drug use being more widespread and a big part of the culture, the BBC knew more of what to look for so to speak,of course they were always overly conservative anyway!
