For the song "If I fell" by the Beatles, I just checked out the lyrics. So I read them and I was wondering why the (male) singer keeps reffering to a "her". I thought about that and I guess the "she" is his old girlfriend, and not the girlfriend of the woman he fell in love with which is what was my first thought.
Was I right the first or second time?

I thought ‘her’ was an old GF, but not positive,….!!

OK, i am a HUGE beatles fan, its just that when i have been listening to there songs i notice some similarities in lyrics…
FOR INSTANCE:
"diamond rings" used in cant buy me love and i feel fine

comments? other repetitive lyrics? am i wrong?

I love the song but would love to know what its getting at. What do you think?

McCartney always said that the lyrics weren’t intended to have any particular meaning, that they were euphonic… meaning they were employed purely for their sound rather than their meaning!

But, as Paul Simon says… if people take their own meaning from a song?… Isn’t that what art is supposed to be about?
