Ringo’s overall contribution to The Beatles is generally underated and misunderstood. He was the first true ‘rock’ drummer and completely changed the way that drummers played in pop music. With regard to his singing – check out ‘Boys’ on their first album – hardly ‘light relief’.

yellow submarine does not exactly stand out as a classic, octopus garden is also mind numbingly bad ! in fact the only ringo song i enjoy while he was a beatle is Goodnight at the end of the double white album, as a solo singer Photograph stands out as his best single, ringo really was a very lucky guy to follow fate as he did !

In the shade!!!!……There was a child-like quality to his songs…I think he wrote this one

Ringo didn’t have the best of singing voices lets face it, and yes I think there was an element of "lets give Ringo a turn" some of the material wasn’t that good but then there are songs like The Yellow Submarine and in my humble opinion!! that is one of the most loved Beatle songs.

Ringo Sung "A Little Help from my friends" which is one of the best beatles songs. Its a shame he wrote such rubbish like Octopus' Garden.

Sorry but the only beatles I like are the ones I chase around outside and hopefully snack on later. I really don't care for their music and think they are the most overrated pop group of all time. Now that I've incurred the wrath of Beatle maniacs, I'm gonna find my favorite hiding spot and catch a few winks.
