Before it was Elvis, then The Beatles, then i guess Michael Jackson was the only candidate left (MJ was NOT as popular as Elvis or the Beatles so don’t give me crap). But the point is, he was the biggest at his time. But now that he is gone, somebody has to take the role as reigning superstar (s) in the music business. So I ask you, which superstar is bigger than the rest right now? Who is on top of the music world? Who is selling albums, merchandise, and tickets WORLDWIDE? The only people I can think of that fit the description is U2. So, who is the King or Queen of the music business right now?

The Beatles and Elvis sold more albums then MJ. Plus, the Beatles AND Elvis are still more popular than MJ. So no, he wasn’t more popular.

Now that Michael Jackson is gone there is a 2 person war engaged in a battle for the sole possession of the title of LIVING "Number 1 Music personality" as it relates to the worldwide media and notoriety. The battle comes down simply to BRITNEY SPEARS and MADONNA. Although Madonna clearly has seniority and is the undisputable master of self reinvention, Britney still would get the overall edge. Think of it in these terms. If you took EVERY LIVING PERFORMER in the world, and leaked to the press that each one of them was going to show up in cognito at a completely different McDonalds, you better believe that 9 out of 10 papparazi would swarm the one where Britney was at. It doesn’t matter if she has a current song on the charts, or is taking a sabatical. Britney WILL ALWAYS carry the true aura of an "Untoucheable" Superstar prescence. In that respect, she is the "Jack Nicholson" of music entertainment now that Michael is gone.

but all you have to do is look at the paramedics pulling these passed out girls(even men) out of the crowd, who don’t even speak english half of the time at his concerts….tell me have you seen the paramedics at a elvis conert? or a beatles concert?
edit:trust me….give michael jackson 10 more years after his death..im sure he will pass them up. they have more records sells because they’ve been dead longer.

DUR… bad comeback. The Beatles and Elvis are always going to be ahead of Michael Jackson in record sales. That’s like saying that Great Britain has had more rulers than the United States. The Beatles and Elvis have several decades on Michael, and like any legendary musician or group, their music is going to keep selling. The real comparison is in a given 25 year time frame, who sold the most albums. And since I’ve never really seen any kind of data that supports or disproves that, you can’t say that. Also, I go to the club and hear Michael Jackson’s music being played, whether it’s in the background of Rihanna’s song or if it’s his own song… I’ve never ONCE heard that done with a Beatle’s song or an Elvis song.

You talk about record sells, but do you really understand Michael Jackson’s story? The Beatles and Elvis both sold over a billion records, but understand that this was years after their inactivity. I highly doubt they sold that many records when they were actively performing. Another thing you must take into account is the number of DIGITIAL DOWNLOADS Michael is selling, as many people are going digital as opposed to buying CDs. You also must understand that the many scandals and rumors, which were all false by the way, affected the sales of Michael’s CDs. However, ALL of his CDs still went to number one despite all of the controversy. Ask a person in the remotest of place if he/she knows who Elvis or The Beatles are and see what their response is. Ask that same person if he/she knows who Michael Jackson is and see what they tell you. THAT IS HOW YOU DETERMINE WHO’S BIGGEST. It’s about who’s more GLOBAL. NO ONE IS MORE GLOBAL THAN MICHAEL JACKSON. I will end by saying that Michael Jackson OWNS both the Beatles’ and Elvis’ catalog. That speaks wonders!
