Fair use of music in a novel.?

When writing a novel, let’s say a character has an obsession with a classic band. like, I dunno, the Beatles, or Metallica. Something everyone would recognise, nothing obscure or unheard of. Now, let’s say that obsession plays a significant role in the story. The character is constantly seen with merchandise and is always mentioning their songs. I’ve heard that titles alone cannot be copyrighted, so it’s acceptable to use the title of the song as long as the lyrics themselves aren’t quoted. I’m fine with that. My question is, if the character’s love of this band’s music plays a prominent role in the story, how far can the writer go in mentioning that? Thanks =D

Well, the character is obseesed with the band, so I would say go all out to show how obsessive the character is.

btw, can u answer my question?
