In the song ‘Blackbird’ by the Beatles, what do the lyrics mean?

I love the song but would love to know what its getting at. What do you think?

McCartney always said that the lyrics weren’t intended to have any particular meaning, that they were euphonic… meaning they were employed purely for their sound rather than their meaning!

But, as Paul Simon says… if people take their own meaning from a song?… Isn’t that what art is supposed to be about?

McCartney was inspired to write this while in Scotland as a reaction to racial tensions escalating in America in the spring of 1968.
