The Beatles made far better music than any of the individual members on their own. I’d say Beatles > Lennon > McCartney.

I think the Beatles are much better than John or Paul’s solo career. Don’t get me wrong, they did an amazing job after the break up, but I think that the fame that they got from the Beatles will always cast a shadow over their later lives. Paul even wrote the song "Carry that Weight" to describe that John, George, Ringo, and himself would all have to carry the weight of the Beatles’ career after they broke up.
Also, it’s really hard to decide if Paul or John is better. The thing I like about the two is that Paul was an amazing melody writer. He is an amazing composer and I even read an article that he would compose sheet music for George John and Ringo so they could play the song that he created. And John was an amazing poet. I can’t ‘imagine’ ((pun intended haha)) how anybody could write on such serious topics and have it flow perfectly in a song.
John and Paul were a perfect pair. One writing lyrics and one writing melodies–and the good thing is, is that they could always switch it up so Paul could write lyrics and John could write the melody.

i love the beatles, but then again i am a lennon fan and most of the songs that i like by the beatles were written (mostly) by lennon.
