Save or destroy the discography…?

A super-evolved alien species has invaded Earth. They discovered our planet after receiving a stray transmission–of The Adventures of Pluto Nash. So, of course, they loathe humanity. They have abducted you (you deserved it, going out by yourself, trying to be a hero) and you are now faced with a series of decisions. They present you with two artists/bands. You can save one’s discography–future generations will be able to hear their music, etc.–but the artist/band you don’t choose? Their discography is destroyed forever. Every album, single, etc. Their music will disappear from our collective memory, as if it was never recorded at all. All right?

Which would you SAVE? –
Beastie Boys or Public Enemy?
The Beatles or David Bowie?
Black Sabbath or the Clash?
Bob Dylan or Miles Davis?
Édith Piaf or Nina Simone?
Green Day or Oasis?
Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd?
New Order or U2?
Pavement or Sonic Youth?
Pixies or the Smashing Pumpkins?
The Rolling Stones or the Who?
The Strokes or Yeah Yeah Yeahs?

    Props to the background story.

I think the only way to do this is totally selfishly: Which do I actually listen to more of, regardless of cultural impact, yada yada yada.

Beastie Boys or Public Enemy?: Public Enemy, but it’s close
The Beatles or David Bowie?: Bowie
Black Sabbath or the Clash?: The Clash
Bob Dylan or Miles Davis?: Dylan (tough, but whatev)
Édith Piaf or Nina Simone? Nina
Green Day or Oasis? Meh, but Green Day I guess
Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd? Zeppelin
New Order or U2? New Order
Pavement or Sonic Youth? Sonic Youth
Pixies or the Smashing Pumpkins? Pixies
The Rolling Stones or the Who? Stones
The Strokes or Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Strokes

It was a very cruel move to make me choose between the Beasties and PE, and Dylan and Davis, and then force me to pick Green Day and Led Zeppelin.

    Chill, Colin.

-Public Enemy (although I prefer the B-Boys, we need variety to what remains)
-The Beatles (we can restart that music revolution)
-Sabbath (athough I prefer the Clash, but there’s still very similar bands and Sabbath started something new and different)
-Davis (we need some jazz. I also love jazz)
    -Nina Simone?
-Oasis (goodbye Green Day teenie boppers)
-Pink Floyd (I prefer Zeppelin, but Sabbath sounds similar enough)
    -U2
    -Sonic Youth
-Pixies (still able to influence an alternative scene and bring out somethings similar to the Pumpkins, even though I’m not much of a Pixies fan)
    -The Stones (larger discography)
-The Strokes (Yeah Yeah Yeahs! would have a female singer added to this list, but I’m too much of a hardcore fan of The Strokes. And The Strokes have a huge discograpy of solo work)
