Are you a fan of the Jonas Brothers?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Are you a fan of the Jonas Brothers?
I am a 53 yr old female and i love the jonas brothers I base my whole life around them. I have all of their music, posters, clothes, dvds, activity books, ticket stubs, OFFICIAL fan photos, OFFICIAL and unofficial bootlegs. I HAVE EVERYTHING!!!! I go to all their concerts and scream at them Hysterically. I try to get in the first row so i can hear their dreamy songs. They are better than the Beatles. One day my husband got sick of my obsession and packed up our 8 kids and left me but I didn’t care. I just sat and listened to my Jonas Brother cds all day. It really made me feel better. My friends don’t hang out with me anymore. I used to go to the mall and drunk and holler at hot men but now i spend all of my money on Jonas brothers concerts and merchandise. I can barely pay the rent or eat. I love the Jonas brothers that much. They are the best thing ever. Why can’t they understand my love for this band?? Can they see that this is everything to me?? I love them so much. I tried to meet them but they said they were too busy. They were lying. Why don’t they want to meet me? I need to know?? Are guys fans like me??

….Someone get the gun.

Using Classic Rock in TV Commercials: Good or Bad Thing?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

My gut feeling about this is "bad thing". Has been for years now. (since ’87 when Nike used the Beatles’ "Revolution")

I still don’t like it. I mean, take a song like Sly & the Family Stone’s "Everyday People" used to sell cars to me, reallly cheapens the songs legacy & original context. Though hey, if Sly Stone needed the cash (he hasn’t had a hit since like, 1973), then OK.

But unless a parent or much older sibling intervenes, it seems today’s youth are discovering the classics in either or some of these ways:

-self-discovery via Internet
-tv ads
-video games

It’s a *little* sad to me, but none of them asked to be born when they were. (like we didn’t either)

On the positive side, however, if even ONE kid hears "Black Dog" on some car commercial & it sparks him or her to jump over to iTunes or where ever & get it & in turn, delve further into Zepp’s discography, mission accomplished.

What say you?
sarah, you know what we like about you? (& I think many of us older folk here would agree w/ me)

Your youthful enthusiasm. :)

As long as young people like yourself exist, I have no doubt the classic rock flame will be kept alive. :)

Effective but pretty tacky would be my vote.

I see the upside you’re talking about, but very few commercials show you who is playing. If they all did that and it was mutual advertising then it would be cooler, but it becomes "you know…the song in the VW commercial."

I’m listening to my Beatles albums,is there a way of telling if the song is sung by John,Paul,George or Ringo?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Their voices sound very similar. I am a music fanatic, and describing their voices would help me very much.

Thank you. The White Album is amazing.

Yes indeedy the White Album is amazing!
My favourite songs from it are probs: While My Guitar Gently Weeps; Blackbird; Sexy Sadie; Happiness is a Warm Gun; Julia and Mother Nature’s Son. What about you?
Anyway, back to the question… :-D

♥ John’s Voice is charicteristically quite high and piercing. He sings: ‘All You Need is Love’, ‘Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite’, ‘Come Together’, ‘Dear Prudence’, ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’, ‘Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey’ etc.

♥ Paul’s Voice is also quite high, but softer than John’s. He also tends to do more roaring rock-like vocals. He sings: ‘Back in the USSR’, ‘Blackbird’, ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Getting Better’, ‘Glass Onion’, ‘Why Don’t We Do it in the Road?’ etc.

♥ George’s voice is sort of a mix of John’s and Paul’s, but he rarely sings lead vocals. It’s soft but also still quite pure-sounding. He sings: ‘Taxman’, ‘Something’, ‘Savoy Truffle’, ‘Piggies’, ‘Love you To’, ‘Blue jay Way’ etc.

♥ Ringo also rarely sings lead vocals, but his voice is probably the most recognisable. It’s deeper than the others and his Liverpudlian accent is very prominent. He sings: ‘Act Naturally’, ‘Don’t Pass Me By’, ‘Good Night’, ‘With a Little help from My Friends’, ‘Yellow Submarine’, ‘Octopus’s Garden’ etc.

Hope this helps!

What are some gift ideas that can go with the theme of "Beatles Songs?"?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

For a holiday gift exchange the theme is beatles songs. It cannot be a beatles CD and the limit is 20 dollars. It’s best for it to not have to be explained and really shouldn’t be any beatles memorabila.

A toy yellow submarine – "Yellow Submarine"
A plastic Dead End sign – "The End"
An hourglass – "It Won’t Be Long"
A day-by-day calendar – "A Day In The Life"
A jar of honey – "A Taste of Honey" (add a bottle of wine if it’s under budget)
A Star chart – "Across The Universe"
A bag of Mary Jane candy or Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup- "Ain’t She Sweet"
A photograph of Donald Trump – "Baby You’re A Rich Man"
A kite – "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!"
A birthday cake – "Birthday"

and the list goes on….

GROOM"S GIFT help!!!?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Need help w somethings. Any direction u can give me would be fabulous! thanks!

My fiance is a fan of all of these things. looking for really cool, retro memorabilia ideas. not your general, run-of-the-mill collectables!!

-Chuck Paulanick
-Spiderman – classic, old school, original comic book cool… not new cheesy stuff!!
-The Beatles
-The Yankees – tickets are way too expensive for opening day in the new stadium and so is memorabilia from yankee stadium after they tear it down. i’ve looked at A-rod signed balls…which are in the $500 -$600 range…ouch. but if this is the best idea..so be it!!

and last but not least, i was thinking about a pocket watch. i mentioned to him to get it for our groomsmen and he seemed really excited about it (we are not getting the groomsmen them). what do i look for when buying a really cool, nice, classy
pocket watch!

Def looking for TRUE guy opinions!!!

Can you play Beatles Rock band online with someone on a different system?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I have Beatles Rock Band for Wii, and my friend has it for Xbox. Can we play online together?

For the record, different systems never worked together with online games, so trying to go online with somebody with a different console than u, it won’t work, ever, unless they come up with some kind of way to do that. So all I’m saying is, that it won’t work.
