Are you a fan of the Jonas Brothers?

Posted by admin on December 29th, 2009 and filed under beatles merchandise | 6 Comments »

I am a 53 yr old male and i love the jonas brothers I base my whole life around them. I have all of their music, posters, clothes, dvds, activity books, ticket stubs, OFFICIAL fan photos, OFFICIAL and unofficial bootlegs. I HAVE EVERYTHING!!!! I go to all their concerts and scream at them Hysterically. I try to get in the first row so i can hear their dreamy songs. They are better than the Beatles. One day my wife got sick of my obsession and packed up our 8 kids and left me but I didn’t care. I just sat and listened to my Jonas Brother cds all day. It really made me feel better. My friends don’t hang out with me anymore. I used to go to football games and drunk and holler at hot ladies but now i spend all of my money on Jonas brothers concerts and merchandise. I can barely pay the rent or eat. I love the Jonas brothers that much. They are the best thing ever. Why can’t they understand my love for this band?? Can they see that this is everything to me?? I love them so much. I tried to meet them but they said they were too busy. They were lying. Why don’t they want to meet me? I need to know?? Are guys fans like me?? Oh and im not gay thats all in the past
My mom got me into them. I caught her one day dancing in a bikini to their music

With all due respect, have you gone crazy?

Jonas Brothers are better than The Beatles. I never thought i would live to hear that. Okay, so am not a big fan of The Beatles, but that doesn’t mean that am gonna entertain such a thought for even a second.

And whom did you leave your family? For a bunch of teenagers who sing cheesy lyrics? And what did you get from it? Isolation?

And ‘your’ Jonas Brothers.. Did they even care to meet you? No, you know why?

‘Cos they don’t care. They are happy rolling about in stardom and all the fame and all the cash. It doesn’t matter to them if an old guy leaves his family for them.

What are you doing with your life? Open up your eyes and see what’s all gone wrong. You still have time. Undo everything before it’s too late.

Coming from the Rap & Hip Hop Section, with a fairly easy (and I’m sure overasked) question for you…?

Posted by admin on December 29th, 2009 and filed under beatles discography | 6 Comments »

I’ve been on a classic rock binge lately, and I realized that I don’t know much (nor own any music by) possibly the most popular group of all time

So, what would you say are The Beatles best albums? Normally what I do when I get into new artists is that I just start at the beginning of their discography and listen to their albums one-by-one, but I’m the doing all that for The Beatles and their like, 1,000 albums…so what are the best/most popular?

The Beatles best Albums are the 13 Studio Albums they released during their short, but illustrious career..

You say you like to start from the beginning, and work to the end, well I suggest doing that very thing.. Every Beatles Album is an amazing piece of work, Please Please Me,right to (Abbey Road).. Let It Be..

Let It Be wasn’t their best work in my opinion….

********
I wanted to list them for you as well…

Please Please Me
With The Beatles
A Hard Day’s Night
Beatles for Sale
Help!
Rubber Soul
Revolver
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
Magical Mystery Tour

Are the remastered Beatles albums worth getting?

Posted by admin on December 29th, 2009 and filed under beatles albums | 8 Comments »

I would convert them to mp3 files straight away to listen on my iPod, so would the benefit of the remastering process be cancelled out by the compression to mp3 format?

Generally the remastered albums are better. I have Rubber Soul, and Revolver remastered, but older CDs of other albums. The worst mix I have is the Yellow Submarine Songtrack album, which sounds artificial.
However, I have the older mono Bealtes For Sale CD and it has a warmth to it. But vinyl is better.

My only criticism is that the mono box set can be hard to get.

What are some less-popular Beatles songs I should listen to?

I want to hear some of those less well-known songs, so I can add them to my growing collection of songs in my iPod.

Beatles albums, memorabilia, etc. Many of those things are now worth a lot of money. Any regrets?

It was cool to imagine that there was no hell below us and above us only sky! ~ : ) It was another stepping stone on life’s long and winding road that led me to your door Donna.

If The Beatles had remained together in the 1970’s what do you think they would have sounded like?

Posted by admin on December 29th, 2009 and filed under the beatles | 3 Comments »

I personally think that they would have been on the level of 3 Dog Night or Steppenwolf. Harder rock but still with that hit making potential.

John actually said in an interview somewhere that he thought that – had The Beatles remained together – they would have sounded a lot like ELO.

I think listening to their solo efforts you could gague what they would have sounded like together. Certainly George’s songs would have remained almost the same as they did on his solo albums. There would have been subtle changes on John or Paul’s songs – the sort of thing they always did where one would polish the other’s composition, or add something they were already working on to the other’s song.

‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’ (the two John songs that the other Beatles added to back in the 1990s) shows that the complimentary magic they had during the 1960s was still there.

Going back to John’s comments about ELO, it’s interesting that former ELO front-man Jeff Lynn produced both ‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’ and he was also a part of The Travelling Wilburys, of which George Harrison was also a member. Some of the Wilburys’ songs are very Beatleish and the band included two performers who were big influences on The Beatles – Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison. Maybe The Beatles would have developed a sound a lot more like The Travelling Wilburys?

I very much doubt The Beatles of the 1970s would have had any one particular sound like Steppenwolf, because each brought their own influences that have continued in their solo efforts. John would always return to his love of rock and roll and some doo wop as well as his protest songs. Paul was heavily influenced by classical and folk music and developed a love of reggae which cropped up from time to time. George was probably the one that remained closest to the Beatles style, but he still continued his love of Indian music. Finally, Ringo seemed to stick with a mix of rock and roll, skiffle, country and show tunes. These influences made up the whole Beatles sound and none of them ever abandoned these styles afterwards.

How much would a 1963 Beatles poster with all 4 signatures be worth?

Probably the entire value of your country!
