In His Life: John Lennon Story (1/9)

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Other Beatles related movie, focused on the band’s world-wide famous leader: John Winston Lennon. A really touching film that shows all the troubles and experienced he had at school and inside his own family and what induced him to do things that not only changed his own life but also the world.
A well done film, good actors and a wonderful look into John’s life, almost an obligated film for any Beatles fan.

The Beatles: Rock Band Within You Without You Full Expert Band [720p]

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Finally, one of my favourite albums is complete. Hopefully these are selling well enough that we’ll see more DLC after Rubber Soul. This album is loaded with non-guitar parts on the guitar which I’m totally cool with because it’s the Beatles and it gives them flexibility to include songs you never could if you were stubborn about what the guitar and even the bass plays on any given song.

Well, if you were wondering how different this would be to the Love mashup included with the disc the answer is very. You got some crazy duelling sitar going on in the solo which totally threw me for a loop. This was our second go at the song and we still didn’t gold it. I’ll take the blame for that, but man the backgrounds really distract me in this one compared to the other songs.

Not Everyone Vlogs, or, We and the Pope are Mutants

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Okay, I know this video is pretty darn long, and apologies for that. But… I’ll give $10,000 to anyone who makes it all the way through :) Well, okay, maybe I won’t give $10,000, I mean– who has that kind of money anyway? But… I’ll give $10 to anyone who makes it all the way through! Er, uh, nah, I don’t have ten bucks, but I do have 25 cents and an old Beatles poster! But I kind of like that Beatles poster, so I really shouldn’t give that away. I’d send the 25 cents out, but postage would be more than the price of that quarter. Okay, so basically, I have nothing to offer, but hope you’ll watch the video anyway. And have a great week everyone :)

What are the lyrics to this Beatles song?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

In the song Across the Universe on my sis’s ipod the lyrics r "words are flowin out like endles rain into a paper cup they slither while they pass they slip away across the universe" and on mine it say "words are flowin out like endless rain into a paper cup they slither wildly as they slip away across the universe" Is there like 2 diff versions or sumthin?? plz help me!!

There are four different "official" versions of the song released by the Beatles, in which the lyrics are slightly different in a few places. They can be found on the albums "Let It Be", "Let It Be… Naked", "Past Masters Volume 2", and "The Beatles Anthology 4".

However, the line of which you speak is, on all four versions, "they slither wildly as they slip away across the universe".

There are other unreleased/bootleg/rare versions of the song out there, in which the lyric actually is "they slither while they pass they slip away across the universe"… though most people don’t actually know about those.

The reason for all of the confusion is that the latter is the version which was used in the recent movie "Across the Universe", so it has gained attention and popularity. Though it is a legitimate lyric as well, if asked, I would say the line is "they slither wildly as they slip away", as done by the Beatles.

Can you pick at least 3 favorite songs, from these early Beatles albums?

What are the best Beatles albums to get?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I love the songs A Hard Day’s Night, Hello Goodbye, Helter Skelter and Back In The USSR. What would be the best albums to get these songs? Also is "1" worth getting as it contains a couple of songs i know and i haven’t heard all the songs on it?

I would suggest you get an earlier, more pop-orientated album first (like Hard Day’s Night) and then maybe a more traditionally psychedelic one like the White Album, (officially just called ‘The Beatles’).
There is also an album called Magical Mystery Tour released in 1976 with some good hits that never appeared on a studio album:
Magical Mystery Tour
The Fool On the Hill
Flying
Your Mother Should Know
I Am the Walrus
Hello Goodbye
Strawberry Fields Forever
Penny Lane
Baby You’re a Rich Man

I have almost all their songs thanks to my parents’ surprisingly good taste in music so I can send you some if you want :-)

What are some songs that sound similar to Helter Skelter by The Beatles?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Okay, so I’m looking for some bands/songs that sound like The Beatles song Helter Skelter. I want some more of that hardcore kinda rock and roll sound with shouting vocals and such. Any help is greatly appreciated =D

Did you listen to "Yer Blues", also by the Beatles, also on the White album? "Back in the USSR" also has some rock and roll sound, not particulary on the vocals.
Another one by the beatles, from Abbey Road, "I want you (She’s so heavy)"
"Rock and Roll music", from Beatles from Sale.
Another band you should look at is Led Zeppelin, they got plenty of heavier rock and roll songs, like "whole lotta love", "immigrant song", "achilles’ last stand" and many, many more.
